Lisa Ma designs dilemmas and socialises activism. Combining fringe communities, ethnographic research and speculative design, her projects digs out the everyday clashes of values between what we do and what we believe in.
Creating 'Farmification' with joystick factory workers in Shenzhen, Spa experiences at cat ladies’ homes in London and starting a movement of eating instead of poisoning invasive animals in Ghent, ‘the vegetarian capital of Europe’. Most recently, Lisa Ma is instigating with the historical community of Luddites to stand as the social guides towards our everyday biotechnology in times of outbreaks.
Lisa Ma makes platforms of engagement that proposes how activism can engage people quietly and productively, beyond the trend of low-engagement clicktivism.
