Adrian Arfire

DISAL R&D team leader for the OpenSense project

Since 2010, Adrian Arfire has been the R&D team leader for the OpenSense project within the Distributed Intelligent Systems and Algorithms Laboratory (DISAL) at EPFL. Financed by the Nano-Tera program, the OpenSense project strives at a better understanding of urban air pollution and its effect on citizen health. To this end, the project consortium has deployed mobile wireless sensor nodes on public transport vehicles in the cities of Lausannne and Zurich. Within the project, Adrian is in charge of the technical development and the management of the Lausanne wireless sensor network deployment.

Adrian holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Computers and Automatic Control from the Politehnica University in Bucharest, a M.Sc. degree in Microengineering from EPFL, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Manufacturing Systems and Robotics at EPFL.
