At Lift we like to explore concepts, which at first sight might look like too audacious or downright utopian, as they allow us to challenge basic assumptions. The “guaranteed monthly income”, a concept on which Swiss citizens will vote soon, fundamentally disrupts labor markets, potentially boosts social and creative endeavors and could lead to a much leaner government.

We are delighted to announce that Enno Schmidt, one of the co-founders of the movement, will speak at Lift14!

In fall last year Enno and friends dumped a truckload of eight million coins outside the Parliament in Bern, one for every Swiss citizen. Along with the coins, activists delivered 125’000 signatures, enough to trigger a public referendum on an audacious social policy: providing a guaranteed monthly income to every citizen, no strings attached.

The topic is hotly debated all over the world these days, from the New York Times to The Economist, from BBC to Fox News – and we can’t wait to explore it at Lift - with a focus on the futures of work.
